Real Sociedad won the league title in the 1980–81 and 1981–82 seasons, and were runners-up in the 1979–80, 1987–88 and 2002–03 seasons.
The club has also won the Copa del Rey three times: in 1909, 1987 and 2020.

In addition to football, Real Sociedad also has several athletics sections, including track and field, field hockey and Basque pelota.
