At the time of the 2019 census, the population of the municipality was 19,339, of which 16,907 people lived in Amorebiet.

Amorebieta Echano is an inland town in the Durangesado comarque in the province of Vizcaya in northern Spain.
It is approximately 25 km east of Bilbao and close to the European route E70 along the northern coast of Spain.
It is located in the valley of the Ibaizabal River;
Amorebieta Echano is located among the rocky mountains and has a rich historical heritage.
The municipality of Amorebieta-Echano came into existence on January 26, 1951, as a result of the merger of Amorebieta and Echano, two communities in the historical administrative region of Merindad de Zornotza.
The remaining parts of the area were united into the municipality of Amorebieta Echano.
The new coat of arms depicts the union of Amorebieta and Echano.
At the 2014 census, Amorebieta had a population of 16,907 and Echano 221.
The city is divided into several districts.
The Church of Santa Maria de la Asunción is located in the center of Amorebieta, on the banks of the Ibaisaba.
This large Renaissance building, built in 1555 and opened for worship in 1608, is famous for its altar.
Another Renaissance church is the Parroquia de San Juan Bautista de Larrea.
This dates from 1647, and in 1704 it was given to the Carmelite Order for the founding of a monastery.
San Antonio is home to the Hermitage of San Miguel de Dudea, and nearby is the neoclassical Lopez Palace.
